BRAHMANA SEVA SANGHA was started in the year 1937,in Tumkur,
about 70 kms. from Bangalore, in a rented building with a purpose of providing facilities
to the needy students to pursue their studies in Schools and Colleges.
Brahmana Seva Sangha moved into its own premises spread over 2.7 acres of land in the year
1948. A veda patashala was started to educate the students about Yajurveda, Brahma sutra,
Gita, Devatarchana Mantra, Purusha Sutra, Srisutra etc. The hostel is equipped with a
library that has over 700 religious books to serve the needs of the students.
A humble beginning of the hostel was made in the year 1937, when the students residing in
the hostel used to survive on the Biksha (offerings) made by the local Brahmin families.
As time progressed donations started coming, though in bits and pieces, from several
philanthropists.
The survival of Brahmana Seva Sangha was a long drawn battle and the organisation has
stood the test of time to reach where it is today. The Hostel constructed by the Sangha
now can accommodate upto 110 students whose day-to-day needs are taken care of free of
charge.
In a rapidly changing scenario the Sangha has drawn up a plan to modernize the various
facilities in the hostel premises.
The Sangha proposes to :
- Equip the rooms with better amenities
- To purposefully use the vast field around the hostel
- To upgrade the Shopping Complex, which is a major source
of funds, required to run the Hostel.
- To start Professional Certificate courses which will help
the needy to become self reliant.
- To start an old aged home.
- To construct a hostel for Girls.
